The catappa mix contains 10 leaves and 2 bark strips (both 12-18 centimeters). This catappa mix is perfect for black water biotopes, shrimp aquariums, aquariums with L-numbers, etc.
Catappa leaves
Catappa leaves (also known as Ketapang, Almond, Terminalia or Sea Almond tree leaves) come from the Sea Almond tree. Shrimp and crayfish find catappa leaves very tasty, and the leaves are therefore excellent supplementary food. Many small shrimp and crayfish gather on the leaves to eat. This way, small animals have enough food available all the time.
The leaves also have many good properties such as; lowering the pH in a natural way, antibacterial effect, providing a natural appearance, enhancing the colors of fish and shrimp, and they work preventive against diseases and fungi in the aquarium.
Our catappa leaves are washed and dried twice and 100% safe for use in the aquarium. Unlimited shelf life when stored dry.
Dosage: give one new catappa leaf per 30 liters of water every 3 to 4 weeks.
Catappa bark strips
Catappa bark is bark from the sea almond tree, which is also known for the catappa leaves. The bark has many benefits in the aquarium. The bark protects against bacteria, infections, protects the mucous/bio membrane, and promotes the vitality of aquarium animals. Catappa bark also naturally lowers the pH value of aquarium water. This is due to the same substances as in catappa leaves, tannins.
This product is safe for all aquarium animals. ''Prevention is better than curing'', is very important in an aquarium. Especially with shrimps and crayfish it is very difficult to detect certain diseases. When they occur it is often too late for the entire group.
Each piece of bark is sufficient for 125L of aquarium water and releases antibacterial substances for 2 months. When the piece of bark has finished working, it can simply be left in the aquarium. Catappa bark contributes to a natural look of the aquarium and also serves as a natural hiding place.
